AMONG a series of Australian poems, the one selected for broadcast from 2UE last Sunday night was entitled, "Engine 1174," and published in this paper some time ago. It was composed by Mr F. Brown, of Derby street, Penrith, and was splendidly rendered over the air by Captain Stevens, punctuated with sound effects of a travelling train and engine whistles. It was listened to and appreciated by a great number of railway men and others, it being the story of a trip that was actually experienced on the Mountains, and the engine was known by reputation throughout the State.
