A Song by Dani Karis©Dani Karis 2005
Train, train train, running a hundred years
Along this track, along this track, from the city to the hills
Through the rain, under the sun and starlit sky
Train, train train, running a hundred years
Along this track, along this track, from the city to the hills
Watching some things change, some stay the same, passing time
But some things done cannot be turned back
Like a train gathering steam on a downhill track
When the things you’ve sold can’t be bought back
What are you gonna have, what are you gonna have
Chorus:
This is not your sky, this is not your sky
Cause you can’t see the stars for the dollars in your eyes
This is not your sky, this is not your sky
So take your cold ambition on up this train line
This is not your sky, this is not your sky
And I will breathe the air that is free
And you will not sell the sky from above me
I’ll watch the colours of the sunset bringing on the night
Against the skyline of this city

Brian
A few years ago developers tried to buy the Camberwell Train Station 'airspace' for a development which would have seen the loss of this historic platform from eastern Melbourne. The protest movement by locals was strong and the station was saved. Among the protesters were Barry Humphries and Geoffory Rush who led the rally with wonderful (and entertaining) speeches about their association with that particular train line.
I wrote the protest song. I wonder if it would be of interest to you and your group.
